Job Overview:
The Resident Aide at Key Treatment plays a key role in supporting and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment for adolescents in our residential treatment facility. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about working with teens facing mental health and substance misuse challenges. The Resident Aide helps ensure the safety, structure, and emotional well-being of our clients while supporting their participation in daily activities and treatment goals.
Duties:
- Monitor and supervise residents to ensure their safety and adherence to program rules and routines.
- Support teens in managing daily schedules, including attending therapeutic sessions, group activities, and recreational programs.
- Provide emotional support and build rapport with residents to encourage positive engagement in the program.
- Observe and document residents’ behaviors, moods, and interactions, reporting any concerns to clinical staff.
- Assist with the facilitation of group activities and ensure a structured, supportive environment during all program components.
- Help de-escalate situations when residents experience emotional or behavioral challenges, following crisis intervention protocols.
- Uphold a safe and respectful environment by enforcing program guidelines and maintaining professional boundaries with residents.
Skills:
- Experience working with adolescents or in a residential care setting is preferred.
- Understanding of mental health and substance use issues in teens, with a focus on maintaining a trauma-informed approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with teens and work collaboratively with clinical staff.
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in high-stress situations, including conflict or crisis scenarios.
- A compassionate, patient demeanor and the ability to offer emotional support while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Willingness to learn and engage in ongoing training related to crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and adolescent development.
