Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process, ensuring that all purchasing activities align with the company’s strategic objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication and electronics supply chain management, contract negotiation, and procurement management. The Procurement Manager will play a crucial role in optimizing our purchasing strategies and ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations.
A Procurement Materials Manager, or Procurement Manager, oversees purchasing and the company’s needs for inventory and supplies by managing vendor relationships, assessing supply needs and coordinating delivery schedules. Their duties include training operations staff, managing purchase orders and tracking the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain. All purchases and inventory management must be managed via ERP software to ensure a consisted database is maintained. The manager has buyers and stockroom staff that are responsible to purchase the necessary components to ensure a high quality, efficient and timely build for customer projects. A high percentage of the procured items are electronic parts with supply chain challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating contracts, and purchasing goods and services.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement in procurement processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor market trends to identify potential opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations throughout the procurement process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in procurement management or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles and contract negotiation techniques.
- Familiarity with category management practices.
- Proficient in using ERP type or similar procurement software.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of federal acquisition regulations is preferred but not mandatory.
