Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must be a great manager with a strong background in sheet metal fabrication and assembly, with a keen eye for quality and precision. This role requires proficiency in software, hardware, tools and techniques used in the industry, as well as the ability to drawings. The Sheet Metal Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and performance.
Responsibilities
- Must have multiyear experience managing a metal fabrication shop focused on sheet metal, tubing and plates. Manage others to do tasks you are skilled at.
- Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications and blueprints.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy.
- Be able to set up, program, and run fiber lasers that cut sheets up to 5'x10'.
- Be able to set up, program and run robot welders.
- Deep welding experience in MIG & TIG both doing it yourself and managing.
- Be able to program and run metal bending brakes.
- Perform in process inspections on finished products to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Manage the production floor using SAP/ERP/MES software.
- Deep experience using both AutoCAD, Solid works and other metal fab software,
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production processes.
- Coordinate and communicate as the lead person with other functions like customer service, purchasing, shipping, and other production managers, engineering, and more.
- Manage all metal finishing and use of manual and timesaver equipment to assure great finishes.
- Manage/coordinate 3rd party powder coating and finishes for most fabricated parts
- Maintain equipment and manage preventative maintenance for equipment.
- Manage all people issues including performance, attendance, productivity, training, etc.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Manager or similar role in manufacturing or metal fabrication environments.
- Strong understanding of technical drawing interpretation.
- Expertise in precision metal measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
- Experience with CNC programming and operation is highly desirable.
- Solid math skills are essential for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Knowledge of quality inspection processes within the fabrication industry is preferred.
