Early Childhood and Lower School Maker Technology Teacher (2025-2026)

Full-time, 12 Months, Faculty Exempt

Key School is seeking a full-time educator for the 2025-2026 school year to teach Maker Technology to students ages three years through eight years. The successful candidate will have experience in early childhood education and understand how to incorporate making, tinkering, STEM, design thinking and creation into the classroom. Maker Technology teachers shepherd students’ discovery of their own passions, their capacity to pursue them, and the confidence and resourcefulness developed as they learn with and from others.

The successful candidate’s goal will be to create a sense of community that empower students to engage with and shape the designed dimension of their world through building, tinkering, redesigning, and hacking.

Reporting to the First School Division Head and the Lower School Division Head, the Maker Tech teacher must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, collaborative and organizational skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute weekly Maker Tech design and creation lessons with students ages three (Pre-School) through eight years old (Second Grade).
• Work collaboratively with homeroom teachers and others to develop interdisciplinary design and creation projects.
• Differentiate design challenge for various ages and skill levels.
• Teach monthly library classes for 3 year old through Kindergarten aged students.
• Communicate with families regularly regarding classroom lessons through Seesaw.
• Attend weekly faculty meetings and scheduled professional development training.
• Collaborate with members of the Innovation and Technology Team
• Participate in the Trimester Report writing process

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum two years teaching experience in an early childhood program and/or elementary program.
• STEM education, making, tinkering and/or hacking experience in an early childhood or elementary setting is preferred

Daily teaching responsibilities and other duties would require candidates to move around a mid-size campus with uneven pavement and manage stairs; frequent walking inside and outside responding to campus issues and/or checking on various departmental progress.

The salary range for this position is $46,820-$88,305 and is based upon several factors that include, but are not limited to, the candidate’s work experience and education.

Technical Competencies:

Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. All candidates should be proficient in common productivity software and hold a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, including applications such as Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and Google Drive. Candidates should be able to efficiently manage their email and schedule using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should also have the ability to use and perform basic troubleshooting on common workplace technology such as printers, copiers, and projectors. Proficiency in virtual communication tools like Zoom or Google Meet is a plus.

Work Schedule/Travel:

Occasionally, there may be business and school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including nights and/or weekends.
