Job Title : Engineering Manager
Location : Santa Ana, CA
Shift : Monday – Friday, 7 : 00 am or 8 : 00 am start time
Pay Range : $80,000 – $ 120,000 (DOE )
Job Description :
The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing the leadership, expertise and direction for the Engineering team and act as liaison between Tool Design, Technical Operations and Supply Chain on ensuring manufacturability, cost and design goals are met with plastic parts. This role will assist in developing and implementing the necessary process documentation used by the Project Management team and our supply base to ensure best design practices are followed and expectations to / from the supply base are well understood and communicated. You will assist in guiding the development teams to appropriate material selection for new designs. This role is a working level manager role where there is direct project ownership in addition to management responsibilities. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with customers to review plastic parts for moldability and suggest design paths / modifications that achieve the mechanical and cosmetic requirements of the design.
- Provide cross-functional leadership on tooling across all projects.
- Coach and develop individual team members based on their strengths
- Interface with vendors as needed to support business needs
- Participate in mold design and build process with plastics and tooling vendors.
- Advise on tooling design process to meet molding and part production requirements.
- Review and strengthen our current tooling qualification and supplier management processes.
- Manage the overall process for tooling development and qualification.
- Work with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to establish optimal molding and secondary operation processes.
- Research and develop new manufacturing processes.
- Analyze manufacturing data and drive improvements
- Ensure quality output of plastic and mechanical components.
- Analyze MoldFlow, FMEA, and stress analysis data for mechanical parts.
- Facilitate communication between departments to ensure quality metrics are understood, followed, and achieved.
- Effectively communicate manufacturing issues and drive resolution
- Utilizes IQMS to input and maintain records.
- Supports plant manufacturing activities.
- Maintains effective working relationship and communication with all cross functional departments.
- Completes all work in a safe manner and follows all safety procedures.
- Follow quality control procedures and standards.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to management or designee.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
