MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The Controller position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a CPA or master’s degree preferred. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include at least two years of corporate financial management experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to create and analyze spreadsheets, as well as generate charts and graphs, is also desired.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Controller reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for the overall financial management of the company, as well as overseeing the Finance and Accounting Department. This includes fostering professionalism and a supportive, team-oriented environment among staff, while coordinating the activities of the Financial Accounting team. The Controller is directly accountable for the performance and results of employees under their supervision. They have full authority to implement company policies and make managerial decisions that positively impact the company’s financial operations and outcomes.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintain strong and consistent communication with both the Leadership Team and the Financial Accounting Staff to ensure alignment and effective collaboration across all departments.
- Work co-operatively with other members of administration to attain the financial goals and objectives of each individual company or business under the ownership of the company.
- Responsible for developing educational procedures and policies which will provide the necessary administrative staff education to insure timely submission of all or required financial tax returns, reports, payroll reports, cost summaries, sales and income information.
- Responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements the company and its affiliates. These statements will be reviewed in collaboration with the company’s Certified Public Accountant, CFO, and Company Controller to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Upon completion of monthly financial statements shall schedule conferences with Executive personnel for the purposes of budget review operational costs, profits, and other related departmental financial interests.
- Supervise and direct all accounts payable functions including personnel responsible for compiling information.
- Responsible for reviewing and monitoring all company investment portfolios, including employee benefit programs such as the 401(k), IRS 125 Plan, and other related plans, to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Responsible for the preparation of an annual budget for all companies and various departments, including monthly analysis.
- Responsible for determining financing needs and negotiating loan agreements, capital project equipment purchases, and lines of credit for the company and its affiliates. Additionally, responsible for developing a comprehensive long-term business plan to support the growth and financial stability of the company and its affiliates.
- Responsible for the preparation of a complete annual accounting of business services, and provide ALL necessary documents required by the County of Kern Ambulance Permit Ordinance.
- Responsible for overseeing all cash planning and disbursements to ensure efficient cash flow management. Additionally, responsible for monitoring and reviewing the company’s purchase order system to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
- Responsible for the research and development of data processing services which will enhance company financial services.
- Responsible for developing cost analysis information which will be utilized for Company proposal contracts, and annual fee increases.
- Assist other members of the Administrative Staff in the negotiation of new company contracts or financial enhancements.
- Responsible for the preparation of all information required for the preparation of Federal and State Income Tax Returns.
- Develop training procedures for Financial Accounting Department, which will insure prompt and efficient accounting information for all levels of Company Management.
- Assist corporate designated C.P.A. with all governmental audits involving the business and as needed the personal interests of the company.
- Keeps the Executive team informed of the company’s financial status and the status of departments reporting to him/her, problems or anticipated problems, and make recommendations for changes in the corporate environment.
- Assures that reporting staff adhere to strict confidentiality, security and need-to-know standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CFO of the company.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
