The financial controller will play a crucial role in overseeing all accounting activities across our restaurant chain. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles (CPA preferred), financial analysis, and the unique challenges of the restaurant sector.

Financial Management:
Oversee the accounting manager in all accounting operations, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and the reconciliation process.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Maintain and improve financial policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

Regulatory Compliance -Tax Filings:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and reporting requirements, including tax filings.
Maintain multi-company financial information and compliance

Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on improving systems to reduce variances. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to management. Present financial results to senior management and provide analysis recommendations for performance improvement.

Budgeting:
Oversee budget preparation and ensure budget compliance.

Compliance and Audit:
Serve as the primary point of contact for taxing authorities, regulatory agencies, and other financial and business-related entities.
Collaborate with the external auditor for the required annual bank audit, and all additional compliance audits.
Responsible for internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.
Perform monthly internal audits on accounts payable, inventory, etc.

Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting reporting functions.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls over accounting transactions.
Implement and enhance financial systems, tools, and technologies to streamline operations.
Conduct internal audits on operating departments to minimize risks and potential waste.

Leadership and Team Development:
Working closely with the accounting manager, mentor and manage a team of accounting professionals through (KIND, TEAM, PASSION, PROCESS), fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth, Provide training and support to team members to develop their skills and knowledge in accounting and finance.

Qualifications/Requirements (Education/Training/Experience/Abilities):

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting.
Proven experience in the restaurant or retail industry is a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting regulations and standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (Ex. Restaurant365 or other integrated G/L accounting software) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
Analytic mindset that is detailed focused.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, including a motor vehicle record search.
