Robotics Systems Specialist/Engineer
A Robotics System Engineer in New Jersey would be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and testing robotic systems for various applications within a manufacturing or industrial setting, including tasks like programming robot movements, selecting appropriate sensors, designing end-of-arm tooling, troubleshooting system malfunctions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless implementation of automation solutions; requiring a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering principles, proficiency in robotic programming languages, and familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities may include:
- System design:
Analyzing application needs, selecting suitable robotic components (manipulators, controllers, sensors), and designing the overall robotic system architecture.
- Robot programming:
Writing code to control robot movements, including path planning, motion control, and interaction with external systems.
- Sensor integration:
Selecting and configuring vision systems, force sensors, or other sensors to provide feedback for robot operations.
- End-of-arm tooling design:
Designing and developing custom tooling to enable robots to interact with specific objects in the manufacturing process.
- Simulation and testing:
Using simulation software to test robot movements and system functionality before deployment, conducting physical testing to validate performance and identify issues.
- System integration:
Integrating the robotic system with existing manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and other automation components.
- Troubleshooting and maintenance:
Identifying and resolving issues that arise during system operation, performing preventative maintenance to ensure system reliability.
- Technical documentation:
Creating detailed documentation for system operation, maintenance procedures, and user training.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in robotic programming languages (e.g., RAPID, RobotStudio, etc.)
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles, including kinematics and dynamics
- Familiarity with electrical systems, including power distribution and control circuits
