Job description
The Tool & Die Maker position is responsible for building and repair of gauges, fixtures,tooling, and dies; assembly and testing of complex tooling and dies in production departments.
Essential Functions
Use blueprints, sketches, models, or provided specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, and assemblies.
Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, by utilizing measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Utilize machining equipment and hand tools to file, grind, adjust, fit and assemble parts to make, repair or modify dies, gauges, and tooling. Conduct testing of completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required. Reports to Tool and Die Supervisor.
Work Environment
The environment will have moderate exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and / or loud noises. It may also include operating equipment and being aware of equipment being operated near you.
