What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at Keystone Clearwater Solutions?
The WaterForce Field I&E Technician will support Keystone Clearwater Solutions’ Water Transfer service line in their mission to provide reliable fluid transfer for Oil & Gas operators. This position is technical and labor-intensive, working primarily in the field in all weather conditions. The work generally involves setting up, testing, and fixing a variety of sensors and control equipment on remote customer sites as well as routine maintenance and repair. This position reports to the Manager of Automated Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Rig-up and commissioning water transfer pumping instrumentation and control systems
- Ensure equipment is in proper working order and respond to troubleshooting issues on PLC, HMI, and instrumentation including sensors, transmitters, solenoid valves, and electronic relays
- Programming and troubleshooting of Siemens & Allen Bradley PLC and ABB Totalflow (RMC100 and XIO Platforms) as well as configuring and troubleshooting HMI systems (Siemens, PanelView, Red Lion, and Beijer)
- Use of hand tools and diagnostics equipment
- Use of computer for reporting and configuration of equipment
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and repair on control equipment
- Interact professionally with onsite customer representatives
- Daily driving of company truck to remote field locations or shop
- Follow company’s standard operating procedures
- Complete routine training and safety objectives
- Conform to changing objectives and other duties as the operation requires
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Minimum of one-year oil & gas or related industrial experience
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical and wiring schematics
- Proficiency in electronics and electrical circuitry diagnostics (multimeter)
- Proficiency in PLC logic troubleshooting and programming languages (ladder logic, function block, and text-based) including scaling raw values, internal tag identification to hardware endpoints, and point force troubleshooting
- Process control experience including PID loop tuning and configuration
- Proficiency in HMI configuration including screen setup, visual elements and alarming manipulation, event logging, troubleshooting tags connections and communications
- Experience with instrumentation installation, hookup, and configuration including sensors, transmitters, solenoid valves, and electronic relays
- VFD controller experience including understanding drive parameters and motor ratings, troubleshooting controller I/O communications, and understanding pump curves
- Self-reliant; a self-starter and can-do, positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure, meet deadlines
- Time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing assignments
- Good communication skills with individuals at all levels, including customer relations
- Willingness to travel regionally to remote locations, and occasional overnight hotel stays
- The geographic median of jobsites is located in Towanda, PA. Applicant should reside within a maximum 50-mile radius.
- Valid Driver’s License
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Certification in related field is a plus
- Experience with industrial pumping equipment including valves, electric actuation, flow, pressure, and level measurement instrumentation is a plus
- Experience with device communication protocols and IP network troubleshooting is a plus
- Experience with hydraulic pumping applications and process control system engineering is a plus

Work is regularly performed outdoors in all weather conditions, near moving mechanic parts, high-noise levels, exposure to high heat and cold temperatures, ice, snow, wet, humid and high-wind conditions, with some work performed in a workshop environment. These conditions require the use of provided hearing protection, steel-toed boots, fire-resistant clothing, hard hat, and eye protection. In extenuating circumstances, shifts may extend beyond 12 hours.
