Salary Range: $47,000 - $51,000 annually
Position Description:
The Food Market Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations of the Keystone Community Food Market, with a focus on program sustainability.
This position exercises judgment and independent thinking, supervises Food Market Assistants, volunteers and intern activities, maintains participant records and database, receives donations, and serves as a liaison to community stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
40% - Participant Service
- Greet participants and guide them through shopping process
- Complete participant intake interviews
- Manage flow of participants to ensure safe and efficient service
- Provide respectful customer service
- Address participant concerns
25% - Food Market Operations
- Oversee daily food shelf operations
- Ensure efficient flow of service from delivery to distribution
- Maintain organization, appearance and cleanliness of Food Market for shoppers
- Identify and communicate building and maintenance needs to Facilities Team
- Supervise youth employees, interns and volunteers
- Assure that the Food Market is a safe environment for participants and volunteers
- Actively seek opportunities for operations improvement and recommend changes as needed to Program Director
15% - Staff Direction
- Hire, train and supervise Food Market Assistants
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback, coaching, and discipline when needed.
- Communicate agency policy and procedures.
- Perform staff administrative activities (i.e. authorize time sheets and leave requests).
15% - Data tracking
- Enter participant and service information into database
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry
- Monitor Food Market Assistant and intern data quality
5% - Other
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned
Qualification Requirements
- Experience working with emergency food services or related social services.
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, comfortable working in an urban setting, experience working with low-income people.
- Good Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work demands.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent customer service skills understanding program participant needs.
Qualification Preferences
- A bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Fluency in a second language such as Spanish, Karen, or Hmong.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Prior experience working in data bases and data entry.
- Knowledge of community resources.
Physical/Mental Requirements
Physical working conditions include the ability to life 50 pounds from floor to shoulder height and to bend and twist while lifting. Frequent sitting and standing along while completing computer work and telephone calls. Lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. This position may have to operate a commercial vehicle from time to time and may occasionally work outdoors in inclement weather.
Mental requirements include ability to work independently while using supervisor appropriately. Problem solving and decision making while exercising professional conduct. Easily adapt to change, capacity to handle multiple priorities and the ability to handle frequent interruptions.
