Hourly Rate: $18.00/hour
Position Description:
The Maintenance/Facility Assistant supports the management of the agency through the provision of general maintenance/janitorial services in order to provide a clean, safe, secure environment.
This position will primarily work out of our Keystone Community Food Center (1800 University Avenue) but may also work at other Keystone locations as needed. General duties include setting up rooms, performing equipment maintenance, and repairs as necessary or required at all sites.
Anticipated Hours for this position will be:
Monday through Friday: 8am - 4pm
Essential Functions
85% Janitorial – Cleans daily following a regular schedule:
- Sweep and mop floors, vacuum carpets, clean bathrooms, clean windows, empty wastebaskets, dispose of trash and replenish supplies.
- Set-up rooms for meetings, events, programs and services.
- Change light bulbs
- Recycle and dispose of materials as required.
- Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and doorways when necessary.
- Shampoo carpets as necessary.
- Serve as back-up to the Program/Maintenance Assistant for some program functions as requested.
10% Facility Operations -
- Perform grounds clean-up when necessary.
- Perform general maintenance and repair functions in order to maintain the facilities.
- and equipment in safe, and efficient working order.
- Check roof drains seasonally.
- Coordinate with City of St. Paul Parks & Recreation when required.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
5% Other - Perform other duties or projects as assigned
- Must maintain punctual and reliable attendance.
Qualification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- 1-3 years of Janitorial, general maintenance and repairs experience.
- Must be task oriented and able to establish and follow routines.
- Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid MN driver’s license, current insurance and acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to perform work independently, but be able to work as a team member and relate to other staff, vendors, clients, building tenants and facility users.
Qualifications Preferences:
- Knowledge and ability to perform general and varied janitorial duties and repairs.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, i.e. boilers, furnaces, air conditioners.
- Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
Physical/Mental Requirements & Equipment Used
Physical job requirements: include the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Frequent bending, walking, lifting and reaching. Climbing ladders. Occasional work outdoors in inclement weather.
Mental job requirements: include ability to establish priorities and follow directions. Written and oral communication skills.
Equipment: Includes general maintenance equipment such as vacuums, buffers, scrubbers, shampooers, etc. Also, telephone, computer, calculator and other office equipment. Must be able to drive a cube truck.
