Position Title: Shipping/Receiving Quality Control Lab Technician
Department: Quality
Reports To: Quality Assurance/Sanitation Manager, Production Manager, Shift Supervisor
Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in assuring that a quality product is being produced through performing quality control testing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow procedures for maintaining high standards for quality, reliability and safety.
- Support companywide quality improvement efforts.
- Utilize improved techniques for the control of quality, reliability and safety.
- Follow quality and safety requirements in accordance with real company needs, based on current regulations and state-of-the art product development.
- Communicate and work closely with production and yet be able to work independently
- Inspect incoming raw product in accordance with the USDA standards.
- Maintain open communication with production staff about quality issues
- Ability to stay focused on getting necessary tasks completed.
- Keep accurate records of analysis performed.
- Perform quality control testing on both the raw potato and the finished product.
- Inspect and sign off on all outgoing finished product, and notify supervisor if any issues are found in a timely manner.
- Ensure all outgoing product meets customer specifications.
- Collect samples for quality assurance testing.
- Report any unsafe conduct that may compromise the product quality or the safety of personnel to both the Production Supervisor and the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Measuring additive flow rates.
- Perform metal detector checks.
- Maintain analysis records for in-house lab data.
- Keep production informed of quality issues.
- Keep the quality control lab clean.
- Assist in other areas whenever needed.
Required Skills:
- Food science or related degree preferred.
- 2 years laboratory experience without degree.
