Senior Cost Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking Senior Cost Accountant in Germantown, MD. Key Tasks:

• Senior Cost Accountant will perform analysis to identify operational variances including purchase price and material usage variances to standards on a weekly and monthly basis
• Perform analysis and reporting to assist in the preparation of the annual budget
• Work with the accounting team to prepare the quarterly forecast of projected spending and operational variances for financial reporting purposes
• Perform accounting functions of the monthly close process
• Verify standard costs and bills of materials are accurate
• Analyze production scrap on a weekly basis and distribute a summary report to managers
• Complete day-to-day control of the work order system, including analyzing and closing commercial and R&D work orders in a timely manner; Must be familiar with work order costing concepts
• Manage and maintain inventory disposition requests and monitor inventory for obsolescence
• Prepare monthly Yield, PPV, Reject and KPI Reporting
• Create inventory items, maintain active items, inactivate and obsolete items including the maintenance of customer pricing and raw materials
• Assist in the improvement of internal controls
• Assist with yearend accounting processes and annual financial audit
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Requirements

• B.S. in Finance and/or Accounting or related field
• 5 or more years of related accounting experience in a manufacturing environment - costing preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic knowledge of general business concepts
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft suite (Excel-Pivot Tables) and Power BI
  
  

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
