Kforce has a client that is seeking a Virtualization Engineer in Reston, VA. Responsibilities:
- Virtualization Engineer will design, deploy, and support all aspects of VMware and Oracle KVM virtualization platforms
- Monitor and maintain the virtual environment's health, performance, and capacity to ensure optimal operation and availability
- Performs daily operations support functions in a 24x7 environment - including system deployments, patching, installation, configuration, maintenance, problem isolation and resolution within production, QA and development environments; Environments include physical servers, virtualization, operating systems, and automation tools
- Documentation of processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans
- As a Virtualization Engineer, you will provide incident response and root cause/mitigation to include security vulnerabilities, performance degradation and system outage analysis
- Participates in team on-call rotation and planned weekend activities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 8 years of operations administration experience managing mission-critical systems
- Strong scripting experience using Ansible, Python, and Shell to automate for consistency, efficiency and repetitive tasks
- Professional experience with Red Hat Linux system administration in a production environment highly preferred
- Familiarity with networking protocols, system monitoring and performance tools
- Critical thinker with problem solving aptitude and thrives for implementing process improvements
- Proficient with automation - Not just developing automation, but knowing why we automate and what to automate
- Strong written and verbal communication skills - able to clearly and succinctly describe complex issues
