RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Baltimore, MD that is seeking a Data Steward who will act as a key liaison between data governance and business functions, advocating for best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting data-driven decision-making. With minimal supervision, this role will mentor data stewards, enhance data literacy, and build a strong data stewardship culture.
Responsibilities:
* The Data Steward will lead and oversee enterprise-wide data stewardship initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic data governance objectives
* Develop and execute data quality frameworks and governance enforcement strategies, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies, regulatory standards, and business needs
* Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for data stewardship, including data accuracy, completeness, lineage tracking, and compliance metrics
* Enforce data privacy and security policies, collaborating with legal, compliance, and cybersecurity teams to meet regulatory requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)
* The Data Steward will provide leadership, training, and mentorship to data stewards across the organization, ensuring consistency in data handling and governance best practices
* Manage and improve enterprise data stewardship processes, including data quality monitoring, metadata standardization, and issue resolution frameworks
* Implementing and enforcing data quality standards, data lineage tracking, and metadata management frameworks
* Support governance technology implementations (Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation) by ensuring effective adoption, configuration, and integration with data processes
REQUIREMENTS:
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements and data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and ability to apply governance policies within compliance frameworks
* Experience using Microsoft Purview to manage metadata, enforce data stewardship policies, track data lineage, and enable governance automation across the organization's data assets
* Ability to configure and optimize Purview for automated data classification, governance workflows, and role-based access control (RBAC) to streamline data stewardship operations
* Experience using enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Informatica Data Catalog, Alation, or Microsoft Purview, to establish data standards, track compliance, and maintain high-quality metadata across business units
* Proficiency in Power BI or similar reporting tools to visualize and report on data quality metrics, data stewardship KPIs, compliance performance, and governance adoption trends
* Ability to build and maintain dashboards that monitor data integrity, policy adherence, and stewardship effectiveness
* Understanding of global data privacy and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and ability to translate regulatory requirements into enforceable governance policies and controls within data stewardship processes
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IT, compliance, and security, to ensure alignment between data governance strategies, regulatory mandates, and operational data needs
* Experience leading data stewardship initiatives, mentoring data stewards, and developing best practices for metadata management, data quality monitoring, and data issue resolution workflows
* Experience implementing data governance processes and managing data stewardship tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica Data Quality, Alation, or Talend for data cataloging, lineage tracking, and metadata management
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
