RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Spring, TX that is seeking a Thermal Engineer with tech experience.
Responsibilities:
* Design engineering solutions for mechanical and thermal hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established principles
* Develop and implement parameters and test plans for new and existing designs, including validation of tolerances, form/fit/function, shock and vibration, electromagnetic interference, safety, reliability, fan curves, system power measurements, and acoustics
* Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop optimal platform design architecture and innovative concepts using the latest technologies based on marketing requirements
* Communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding design status, project progress, and issue resolution
* Lead projects and collaborate with internal and outsourced partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for moderately complex products
* Represent the thermal team in all phases of larger and more complex development projects.
* Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into thermal design projects through hardware and firmware developments
* Lead proof of concept (POC) initiatives with hardware and firmware/software development to validate new technologies for future products
* Utilize subject matter expertise to address complex business issues within established guidelines, recommending appropriate alternatives
* Work on diverse problems, leading the development of next-generation notebooks, mobile workstations, docking stations, and mobile computing solutions
* Act as a team or project leader, facilitating team activities and decision-making processes
* Exercise independent judgment within defined policies to identify and select solutions, seeking advice for complex issues when necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal fluids
* Typically, 5-10 years experience
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong understanding and experience in electronics packaging
* Experience with fan, heat pipe, and vapor chamber design
* Experience using various thermal interface materials
* Experience relating skin temperature, acoustics, and system performance
* Using Flotherm, Ansys or other thermal CFD modeling tools
* Using CFD and thermal mockups to validate thermal solution
* Designing sheet metal and plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language
* Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
