Clinical Counselor (Domestic Violence and Children & Family)
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Clinical Counselor to provide therapeutic services for survivors of intimate partner violence and their children. The ideal candidate will have experience in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and working with sensitive issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments, provide crisis intervention, and ongoing counseling services for survivors of intimate partner violence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, including client intake forms, privacy statements, danger assessments, safety plans, and consent/release forms.
- Provide trauma-informed therapeutic services to clients referred by emergency shelter case management staff.
- Offer psychoeducational counseling and therapeutic activities for children and adolescents in a safe environment.
- Collaborate with other counselors, support group facilitators, and shelter department staff to provide group and/or therapeutic activities for survivors.
- Participate in agency staff meetings, special committees, and twelve hours of Victim Service Provider (VSP) approved trainings annually to maintain active certification.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work or professional counseling required; new graduates considered.
- SC SW or LPC license and active membership in NASW or ACA.
- Minimum one year of direct counseling service, preferably in crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with intimate partner violence, counseling dynamics, and community human services programs.
- Able to handle emergencies/crisis situations independently.

Work Environment
This is a full-time position (30 hours) or part-time (flexible hours). A valid South Carolina driver's license and personal vehicle are required for work-related travel.
