Position Summary: Assist and/or own financial aspects of grants and foundations, including tracking, reporting, submitting reimbursement requests, and budgeting. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded and reconciled. Assist the Director of Finance with analyzing current costs, revenues, and financial commitments to forecast future income and expenses. Handle payroll processing and support accounts receivable and payable tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Stay informed on the organization’s accounting system and its updates.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to review quarterly tax records.
- Manage payroll processing and maintain payroll systems for employees and contractors.
- Prepare and submit reimbursable grant requests to funding agencies.
- Organize and maintain both physical and digital grant records.
- Support the reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Generate or assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Aid in tracking grants and foundations and assist with report preparation.
- Participate in financial audit processes.
- Assist with managing accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field plus three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of accounting, payroll, and personnel management, with a strong preference for experience in nonprofit accounting and grant management.
- Proficiency with computers, including experience using accounting software and word processing tools, and intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with general office, administrative, and reporting procedures.
- Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to evolving technologies.
- Must be efficient, accurate, and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of debits and credits, with the ability to analyze financial statements and provide recommendations when necessary.
- Professional communication skills for interacting with the public on the phone and in person.
- Experience with federal, state, and local grants is strongly preferred.
- A valid South Carolina driver’s license, access to a vehicle for work-related travel, and vehicle insurance.
