Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Integration: Design, develop, and implement mechanical interfaces for payloads. Ensure structural integrity, proper mounting, and alignment of payloads.
- Electrical Integration: Develop and implement proof of concept electrical interfaces, including harnesses, power, and comms infrastructure.
- Testing & Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of integrated payloads to ensure they meet performance specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during testing.
- Project Management: Maintain strict adherence to project timelines, ensuring that integration tasks are completed on schedule. Coordinate with project managers to provide regular updates on progress and any potential delays.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of integration processes, including schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and testing procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project manager, engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that payloads are integrated according to project requirements. Provide technical support and guidance throughout the development cycle.
- Travel: Travel to customer sites, testing facilities, and field operations as needed to perform on-site integration, testing, and troubleshooting. This role may require up to 30% travel.
Skill sets:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of mechanical design experience using CAD. (Solidworks/Fusion 360)
- 3 years of experience in payload integration, preferably in the UAV or aerospace industry.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and rapid iteration of integration solutions.
- Proficient in electrical systems, including circuit design, wiring, and interface development.
- Ability to take ownership and work independently to drive projects/tasks to completion.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly.
- US citizen with the ability to obtain secret security clearance
- Flexibility to travel if/when necessary to support on-going operations
Preferred Qualifications:
- FAA Part 107 certified
- Ardupilot experience
- Experience with RF systems and antenna integration.
- Proficient in network configurations (IP protocol)
- Model Airplane building/flying experience
- Veteran status is a plus
