Job Title: Director of Roofing
Location: Knoxville, TN
Position Overview:
The Director of Roofing is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and profitability of all roofing projects. This role involves overseeing the bidding and estimating process, managing production teams, maintaining strong customer relationships, and ensuring that company standards for safety, quality, and performance are met. The Director of Roofing will work closely with ownership, project managers, service managers, estimators, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain efficiency, grow profitability, and uphold the company’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bidding & Estimating
- Review and approve all estimates and bids prior to submission.
- Follow up with customers on open proposals to close deals and schedule meetings as necessary.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and represent the company to customers and project stakeholders.
- Operations & Production Management
- Oversee estimating, project management, and service management teams.
- Monitor all stages of production activity in the company’s software to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Advise project managers and service managers on complex roofing issues, providing solutions that benefit both the customer and company profitability.
- Conduct quality control reviews using daily reports, job-site updates, and corrective actions as needed.
- Assist with scheduling and resource allocation to optimize productivity and job quality.
- Customer Relations
- Follow up with customers post-completion to ensure satisfaction and show appreciation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, recommending the best solutions for their roofing needs.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead monthly safety meetings on the fourth Friday of each month.
- Conduct weekly meetings to review job performance, address issues, discuss upcoming projects, and align on company goals.
- Mentor and support production team members, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Recruit, hire, and, when necessary, terminate employees to maintain a strong, effective team.
- Staff Performance & Reporting
- Alert ownership to any staffing concerns such as poor attendance, substandard work quality, policy violations, or misconduct.
- Take corrective action to resolve performance issues and maintain a productive, compliant work environment.
- Vendor & Subcontractor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage subcontractors and vendors.
- Negotiate subcontractor labor rates to ensure cost-effective, high-quality project completion.
- Administrative & Marketing Support
- Review and approve all metal orders before production.
- Coordinate purchasing of marketing materials, branded gear, business cards, and other promotional items as needed.
