Apprentice TECHNICIAN

**Shift is Tuesday - Saturday or Wednesday - Saturday**

I. Job Description:

A. Lubricate moving parts of automotive vehicles, such as automobiles, vans and trucks.

1. Inject grease into units such as springs, universal joints and steering knuckles using hand or compressed air powered grease gun.

2. Inspects fluid level of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differential, rear axle housing and shackles.

3. Check air pressure of tires.

4. Lubricate moving parts with specified lubricants.

5. Drain oil from crankcase and refills crankcase with required amount of oil.

6. Spray leaf spring with lubricant, using spray gun.

7. Add water to radiator and battery.

8. Replace oil and air filters.

9. Rotate tires.

10. Pack wheel bearings.

11. Perform other tasks as assigned.

B. Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all personnel.

C. Maintain a professional demeanor while on the job.

D. Treat members of the public in a courteous and non-discriminatory manner.

E. Conform to the company’s policies on non-discrimination and harassment.

F. Properly uses all personal protective equipment.

II. Types of Equipment/Machinery Used on the Job:

A. Hydraulic and electric hoists

B. Hydraulic jacks

III. Types of Tools Used on the Job:

A. Hand and air tools

B. Grease gun

C. Spray gun

IV. Vehicles Driven or Moved as Part of the Job:

A. Vehicles moved into position on hoist and relocated to appropriate parking area after work is completed.

V. Personal Protective Equipment/Clothing Required:

A. Safety equipment provided by business:

1. Hearing protection as required.

2. Clear goggles.

B. Required employee provided safety items:

1. Leather topped, rubber soled shoes.

VI. Possible Chemical Exposure as Regular Part of Job:

A. Numerous chemical products are handled on a frequent basis as a normal part of this job.

B. In order to recognize and protect him/herself from chemicals in the work place, the employee will:

1. Attend training in company’s hazard communication program (workers’ right to know).

a. Utilize chemical inventory list.

b. Utilize material safety data sheet (MSDS) file.

C. Utilize required personal protective equipment at all times.

VII. Physical Demands:

A. Standing: Intermittent, not to equal more than 50 % of the working day.

B. Walking: Intermittent, not to equal more than 40 % of the working day.

C. Sitting: Intermittent, not to equal more than 5% of the working day.

D. Stooping (bending at the waist), kneeling (at knees) and crouching (at knee and waist): Infrequent activity, not equal to or more than 5% of the working day.

E. *Lifting: Maximum of 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.

F. *Carrying: Maximum of 25 lbs. on a frequent basis.

G. Pushing and pulling: Frequent activity using equipment and hand tools.

H. Climbing and balancing: Occasional activity

I. Crawling: Occasional activity

J. Twisting or turning of trunk: Frequent activity

K. Reaching: Frequent activity

L. Handling: Frequent activity (hand tools, etc.)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
