What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Assistant position at Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma?
This position organizationally falls under the Property and Procurement Director of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Operational hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with flexibility to work outside of standard operational hours based on business or tribal cultural needs. The Fleet Assistant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma’s vehicles.
Tasks are as follows, but not limited to:
- Responsible for the daily management of the fleet, which includes daycare buses and vans, head start buses, police department vehicles, and other vehicles owned by the tribe.
- Assists in establishing vendor accounts for maintenance.
- Ensures all preventative maintenance is performed on time and accurately.
- Maintains a log of the fleet and ensures the tag and insurance is up to date.
- Coordinate and assist with transporting vehicles to different tribal locations and repair facilities as need.
- Responsible for in processing and out processing of all tribal vehicles.
- Coordinates and communicates fleet availability.
- Assist with cleaning, refueling, and light maintenance of all vehicles.
- Prepare requisitions for any expenses with the fleet.
The incumbent must be flexible in order to undertake a variety of miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor or team leader.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- High School Degree or GED
- Minimum of one year working in a maintenance or dispatch environment
- Must maintain and possess a current, valid, unrestricted Drivers License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent communication skills verbally and written.
- Candidate must be willing to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to position
- Solid knowledge and understanding of procurement processes, policy, and systems
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
- Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
- Ability to negotiate, establish, and administer contracts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Accurate and precise attention to detail
- Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels
