Kid Central- Teacher Job Description
We're looking for a fun, gentle, patient, experienced, person to add to our Infant Room team. This position is Wednesday to Thursday 8:30-5:30.
Our Infant Room is for ages 6 weeks - 15 months. We can have 7 babies in our room with 3 staff.
Purpose of Position
To provide a loving, safe, and educational environment for children while they are in care at Kid Central. To promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of the children.
Requirements
- A teacher must be at least 18 years of age, have 30 semester credit hours at a college or university in Early Childhood Education and Child Development or related field of study, OR be a Step 8 in the Oregon Registry, OR have at least 1 year qualifying teaching experience in a Certified Center.
- Complete all required trainings/certifications: First Aid/CPR for Adults/Infants and Toddlers, Food Handlers, Enrollment in the Central Background Registry, Enrollment in the Oregon Childcare Registry, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training, Safe Sleep Training, Prevention is Better than Treatment, and Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety.
- Individual must be gentle, loving, attentive, up beat, friendly, playful, and work well with others.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a loving and fun classroom that’s organized, sanitary, and functional.
- Meet the needs of all the children at their developmental and emotional level.
- Respond to children in a gentle and loving way.
- Feeding of infants.
- Engage children in age appropriate play.
- Diapering and cleaning up bodily fluids.
- Supervise and monitor children at all times.
- Respond to crisis or emergency situations that may occur. Provide first aid or CPR, prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens, and access emergency services as needed.
- Work well with other staff
- Maintain ongoing communication with parents.
- Prepare classroom materials to support lesson plans; change out toys and activities to fit the month's theme.
- Follow the rules and procedures of the center.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent communications skills, especially good listening skills.
- Knowledge of child development.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 40 pounds during the workday, sit in small chairs, and get up and down off of the floor frequently.
- Maintain 15 hours of continued education each year.
- Stay calm and positive under pressure
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to $15.50 per hour
