What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reggio/Nature Based Float/Extended Day Teacher position at Kid Town Nursery School?
Kid Town Nursery School is looking for a strong, passionate and experienced Float/Extended day teacher with a rich background in the Reggio Emilia philosophy and/or nature based learning.
About our school: We opened in Mansfield in 2019 as a small nursery school licensed for 6. We expanded the following fall to 9 children per day, and we currently operate at a larger commercial space in Plainville with 3 indoor classrooms, 3 outdoor classrooms and a studio. We are play and project based and are heavily inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of teaching, with a strong emphasis on nature based learning. Our mission is to form our curriculum around the children we enroll.
Job Title: Looking for part time teacher ONLY. 12 hours per week (Tues/Thurs 8:30-12:30, Mon/Wed 2:30-4:30 with potential for more hours over summer and next year.
The ideal candidate will have:
-at least a Bachelors in Child Development, Early Childhood, or or related field or working towards degree
-MUST HAVE EEC teacher or Lead teacher certification (Teachers with assistant certification not needed at this time)
-a background in a Reggio inspired classroom
-a passion for observation, documentation, professional development and helping children love learning
-a desire to learn from both children and colleagues
-and understanding of current developmentally appropriate practice and experience with neurodivergence

Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers as Float teacher, helping with classroom management, material prep, covering sick days. Extended day responsibilities include managing class of toddlers or Preschool/Prek children in afternoon curriculum and outside time.
-Work in team to manage classroom activities and ensure a nurturing environment for toddlers through Pre-K.
- Utilize effective communication skills to interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Utilize classroom experience to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for students
