Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienists to provide high-quality dental care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, ensuring the comfort of patients
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating temporary crowns, and taking impressions
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in Dentrix or Eaglesoft software
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures
- Monitor vital signs of patients during procedures
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing patient flow
- Handle administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, updating medical records in Epic or other electronic medical record systems, and processing insurance claims
Skills:
- Proficiency in aseptic technique and infection control procedures
- Strong knowledge of medical documentation and record keeping
- Experience with Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or other dental practice management software
- Familiarity with taking vital signs and performing patient assessments
- Understanding of medical coding for dental procedures
- Ability to handle medical records in electronic medical record systems such as Epic
