EMPLOYEE: Vehicle Driver and School Age Preschool Teacher
REPORTS TO: Program Director
JOB SUMMARY
Drives and maintains approved vehicles to transport children to and from school and Summer Camp field trips.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follows Kiddie Academy® transportation guidelines.
• Drives approved vehicle to and from the academy and specified pick-up sites according to assigned route and schedule.
• Assists children as necessary in entering and exiting a vehicle.
• Takes attendance of children at each pick-up location. Make sure all children are accounted for. Follow the Van Procedures Agreement.
• Maintains a copy of enrollment record for each school-age child in vehicle with complete and updated emergency card information and child's photo.
• Ensures that all children are secured in an individual seat belt before the engine is started, if available. Regulates heating, lighting and ventilating for passenger comfort.
• Complies with local traffic regulations. Reports delays or accidents.
• Completes Daily Vehicle Checklist.
• Notifies the Director when maintenance is needed. Takes a vehicle for quarterly maintenance.
• Inspects vehicles and checks gasoline, oil, and water before departure.
• Cleans and services vehicles with fuel, lubricants, and accessories; checks tire pressure and adjusts mirrors.
• Keeps record of field trips and number of children.
• May assist teachers in supervising children as required.
Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher.

Strong understanding of child development and preschool educational methods.

Ability to engage and earn the trust of young children.

Excellent communication skills, both with children and parents.

Calm, friendly, reliable, and a natural mediator between children.

Certification in child CPR.

B.A./B.S. in Education or a related field, or equivalent experience.

A valid teaching permit or credential from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (e.g., Child Development Master Teacher Permit, or similar).
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other similar or related duties as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and knowledge of all Department of Transportation Guidelines for the transporting of children.
• He/She must meet all state and local requirements for the position, including Motor Vehicle Administration Check, physical and Criminal Background Check.
• Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high.
