- Oversee day-to-day operations of the daycare facility, including managing staff schedules, enrollment, and parent communication.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health, safety, and education standards regulations.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for children, parents, and staff, fostering a sense of community and partnership.
- Hire, train, and evaluate daycare staff, providing ongoing support and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children's attendance, medical information, and developmental progress.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement age-appropriate educational programs and activities that promote intellectual, physical, and social development.
- Manage the daycare budget, including tracking expenses, approving purchases, and seeking cost-effective solutions.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, addressing any concerns or issues and regularly communicating about their child's progress and development.
- Ensure the daycare maintains a safe and clean facility, conducting regular inspections and promptly addressing any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Stay informed about new trends and best practices in early childhood education, participate in professional development opportunities, and network with other daycare professionals.
- Here are the regulations:
A director shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 2 years of experience with children.
- An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 3 years of experience with children.
- An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 4 years of experience with children.
