Join Kidizens, an exciting and innovative summer camp where kids create their own LEGO city while learning about civics, leadership, and problem-solving. Kidizens is a unique, innovative enrichment program for 1st through 6th graders (ages 5-12) where “kid citizens” create an entire LEGO city over the course of the week while learning about civics, (city planning, government), entrepreneurship, economics, business, environment, and much more.
As a Lead Summer Camp Counselor, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with children (ages 6-12), guiding them through fun, hands-on learning activities that blend LEGO building, city planning, and lessons on government, business, economics, and the environment. You’ll inspire the next generation of leaders while gaining valuable experience in project-based learning, teamwork, and educational leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a group of approximately 20-24 kids, helping them navigate city-building projects and educational activities.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of assistant counselors and interns to deliver a high-quality, engaging camp experience.
- Deliver interactive lessons on civics, leadership, and sustainability through creative LEGO building challenges.
- Foster a fun, safe, and positive environment while encouraging critical thinking, teamwork, and creativity.
Ideal Candidate:
Ideal candidates are thought/policy leaders, educators, professionals, and ambitious college students with prior summer camp experience and/or political science, psychology, anthropology, environmental science, or arts degrees. In addition, an ideal candidate is -
- Passionate about working with children and nurturing their creativity.
- A strong communicator who can keep kids engaged and excited.
- Able to manage a classroom and guide children through activities with confidence.
- A LEGO enthusiast? (Not required, but you’d be in good company!)
- Previous experience in camp or classroom settings.
Compensation and Perks:
- Competitive pay ($18-$22/hour, commensurate with experience)
- Hours: Minimum commitment of 32 hours per week with flexibility to work up to 40 hours per week
