General Summary of Duties :
Responsible for performing a variety of secretarial duties for physicians, administrator, and other members of Delaware Valley Nephrology and Hypertension Associates.
Essential Functions :
1.Greets, screens, schedules and directs patients.
- Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information. Handles phone calls regarding test results and requests for prescription refills.
- Responsible for office hours via Electronic Health Record (Acumen) and Practice Management System (HPM). Duties include registering patients, locating laboratory and radiology reports; scanning all patient correspondence, collecting co-pays, weighing all patients and escort to exam room; scheduling follow-up appointments as well as scheduling and / or completing requests for blood work, x-rays, procedures, etc.; obtaining prior authorizations for diagnostic testing when required.
- Obtains, verifies, and updates patient demographic and billing information and provides support services to patients and physicians. Confirms referrals and insurance coverage / co-pays for office visits. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned, which include keeping the patient exam room clean and stocked.
- Performs secretarial / clerical duties which may include medical transcription; completes forms and other correspondence including insurance forms, forms for medical equipment, etc. at the request of patients and required by insurance carrier.
- Sort and distribute all mail.
- Prepares and processes correspondence. Answers routine medical inquiries and drafts letters.
- Requests, locates, sends and / or receives patient medical records.
- Maintains patient appointment schedule.
- Maintains patient electronic medical records in accordance with office procedure.
- Confirms patient appointments at least 48 hours in advance.

Work is performed in a medical office environment. Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians, and others. Work may be stressful at times. Constant interactions with others.
Other Special Conditions :
Must be willing to travel and provide coverage in other offices as needed. Any other duties relating to the operation of the medical practice that may be assigned by a physician or the administrator.
