Job Duties:

  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs):
  • Assist in carrying out behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a BCBA (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst).
  • Track and record data on behaviors to assess progress and identify patterns.
  • Collect Data:
  • Use data collection methods to track behavior and measure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Maintain accurate records of clients' behavior, progress, and treatment plans.
  • Provide Direct Client Support:
  • Work one-on-one with clients in various settings (homes, schools, clinics, etc.).
  • Engage clients in therapy activities to improve communication, social skills, and daily living skills.
  • Monitor Client Behavior:
  • Help reduce problematic behaviors by reinforcing positive behaviors.
  • Implement reinforcement strategies to promote desirable behaviors.
  • Support Skill Acquisition:
  • Assist clients in learning new skills, including communication, motor skills, and daily routines.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and Other Professionals:
  • Work closely with supervisors and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Communicate with family members and caregivers to provide progress updates.
  • Maintain Professional Standards:
  • Adhere to ethical and professional guidelines as set by the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board).

Job Requirements:

  • Education & Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Completion of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification training program.
  • Certification through the BACB (Behavior Analyst Certification Board) by passing the RBT exam.
  • Experience:
  • No prior experience required for entry-level positions, but experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities is often preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with clients, families, and supervisors.
  • Patience and Empathy: Working with clients with behavioral challenges requires patience and understanding.
  • Data-Collection Skills: Ability to track and record data accurately.
  • Behavioral Understanding: Basic knowledge of behavior analysis principles (often learned during RBT training).
  • Background Check:
  • Most employers require a background check due to the nature of the role, especially when working with vulnerable populations.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (may be required):
  • Some employers may require current CPR and First Aid certification to ensure safety in case of emergencies.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to engage in physical activities, including sitting, standing, and possibly lifting or restraining in some cases (depending on the client's needs).

Additional Qualifications (optional but beneficial):

  • Experience or coursework in psychology, education, or social services.
