What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher/Teacher Assistant position at Kids' Business in DeWitt, Inc.?
Kids' Business is looking for teachers working with infants thru school age. The positions are M-F, anytime between 6:30am-5pm. You would be in charge of keeping the structure of the classroom going, creating age appropriate activities that work towards their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and have the ability to communicate to parents on a daily basis. You must be able to work well with others, follow procedures that are required by the Iowa Department of Human Services and adapt to any changes that may arise. This candidate would have an assistant working side by side as well as coordinating with the Lead Teacher each day. This position could also be used as a substitute if schedule allows for more hours.
You must be able to pass a background check and be reliable each scheduled shift. Prior classroom experience is preferred, knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, be energetic and positive with a child-friendly personality, and be a team player.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides academic instruction and teaching interactions to individuals and small groups.
2. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Implements behavioral interventions and collects data. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution.
4. Express concern for and sensitivity to the needs of all students regardless of their race, national origin, sex or disability.
5. Works courteously and cooperatively with other staff members regardless of their race, sex, disability or national origin.
6. Maintains confidentiality of children and family information.
7. Reports suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law.
8. Meets training requirements as outlined by the Iowa Department of Human Services and CACFP (food program).
9. Time Management- manage not only your time but the time of others as well. Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish your work.
10. Carries out other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director.
