Position Overview: We are seeking dedicated Swim Instructors to join our team and teach swimming skills to individuals of all ages and abilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for water safety, a talent for instruction, and a desire to inspire confidence in swimmers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure water safety: Monitor pool activities, enforce safety rules, and maintain vigilance to prevent accidents or injuries. Be prepared to respond quickly to emergencies.
- Teach swim techniques: Demonstrate proper swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and water safety practices. Adapt teaching methods to the learning style and age of each student.
- Evaluate progress: Provide regular feedback to students (or parents/guardians) on performance, identify areas for improvement, and adjust lesson plans as needed.
- Motivate and encourage: Create a positive and supportive environment that helps swimmers build confidence, overcome fears, and develop their skills in the water.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment: Ensure that the pool and surrounding areas are maintained, clean, and meet safety standards.
- Certifications and training: Stay current on lifeguard and swim instructor certifications, as well as CPR, AED, and First Aid training. Participate in ongoing training as required by facility management. Kids Club will train.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience as a Swim Instructor is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with various swimming strokes and teaching techniques for all age groups.
- Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively instruct, give feedback, and interact with students and their families.
- Patience and Adaptability: Ability to work with students of varying ages and abilities, tailoring lessons to suit individual needs while maintaining patience and enthusiasm.
- Physical fitness: Ability to demonstrate swim techniques, maintain energy for teaching, and be physically capable of performing rescues if needed.
Working Conditions:
- Indoor pool environments.
- May require working evenings and weekends based on scheduling needs.
- Ability to stand and instruct for extended periods, perform water-based demonstrations, and respond quickly to emergencies.
