Overview
Kids Empowerment Learning Academy (KELA) Driver is responsible for safe reliable transportation of children to and from home, elementary schools and field trips. We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be transporting children to their designated locations while ensuring a commitment to safety. This role requires excellent driving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the staff, children, and parents.
Duties
- Safely operate a 15 passenger van type of vehicle
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off
- Maintain the vehicle in good working condition by performing regular inspections and basic maintenance
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding schedules, routes, and any changes
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety on the road
- Keep accurate records of trips
- Supervising children, safety and maintenance checks of the vehicle and informing the director of any potential problems with the vehicle
- Attend staff/program meetings as required
Skills
- The van driver must be at least 25 years of age, have no traffic violations within the past three years and have a current driver’s license
- Have a current negative TB skin test, CPR & First Aid for adults and children, must complete Orientation I & II, and must complete 15 hours of required child care training, including Pediatric Abuse & Head Trauma
- Be able to occasional lifting/assisting children weighing up to 25 pounds
