What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Support Counselor / Homebuilders position at Kids in Distress?
As a Family Support Counselor at Kids in Distress, your day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting assessments of families in crisis, developing service plans, providing counseling and support services, and collaborating with community resources to ensure families receive comprehensive care. You will work closely with families to address their needs, strengthen parenting skills, and promote family stability. Additionally, you will be required to maintain detailed case notes, participate in team meetings, and continually assess and adjust intervention strategies to meet the evolving needs of the families you serve.
This role requires compassion, strong communication skills, the ability to provide comprehensive support and assistance to families and the ability work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelors or Graduate Degree in Social Work or related field.
- At least two (2) years of experience working with children and families, demonstrating a strong understanding of family dynamics and crisis intervention strategies.
- Must have a valid driver's license with no restrictions; good driving record (no serious infractions); vehicle in good working condition; automobile liability insurance that meets minimum agency requirements.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, cultural competence, and the ability to work effectively in a team setting are crucial to successfully support families in crisis and make a positive impact on their lives.
