The Role: Afterschool Program Instructor

  • Maintain an encouraging classroom environment where students feel safe to explore and learn
  • Engage families through monthly outreach, keeping them involved in their children's STEAM education
  • Collaborate with partner sites to align our curriculum with their educational goals
  • Organize field trips, job shadow days, and guest speaker sessions for real-world STEAM exposure
  • Collect and enter student data to track progress and impact

What We're Looking For:

  • High school students/graduates or GED holders, ideally aged 16-24
  • Passion for STEAM fields, with related club or coursework experience a plus
  • Background in education or youth development preferred
  • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and commitment to fostering a growth mindset
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged, especially in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, French, Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, Cape Verdean Creole, or Khmer
  • U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Greater Boston residents or those with reliable transportation preferred

What We Offer:

  • Competitive hourly rate: $17.55 - $28.50, based on experience
  • Professional development and networking opportunities in STEM fields
  • Flexible schedule aligned with the school calendar
  • Potential for special projects and growth opportunities

Time Commitment:

  • Program runs October 2024 - June 2025
  • Minimum two days per week at partner sites during active program weeks
  • Additional time for lesson prep, data management, and team meetings
