What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Intern position at Kids Join the Fight?
Summer Intern – Social Media & Engagement
Kids Join the Fight
Position: Social Media Intern
Location: Remote
Duration: Summer 2025
About Kids Join the Fight:Kids Join the Fight empowers kids to take action in the fight against pediatric cancer by raising funds to provide local CARE for pediatric cancer patients and their families and to support research to find a CURE for childhood cancer.
With the overarching goals of CARE and CURE, we strive to make the cancer-fighting experience less daunting for families—allowing them to focus on their child rather than the burdens of care and treatment. Our key objective is to improve the CARE of pediatric cancer patients in their local settings while funding targeted research to find a CURE. In doing this, we also work to raise awareness about the extreme underfunding of pediatric cancer research, which leaves children with outdated, toxic treatment options and complicated care systems.
One of our largest initiatives is the 50 State Challenge, where we aim to host events in all 50 states during September—Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. These events, ranging from lemonade stands to bingo nights, help spread awareness and raise critical funds.
About the Role:We’re looking for a creative and driven social media intern to help expand our reach among teens and college-age students. This intern will play a key role in creating compelling content that engages young audiences and encourages participation in the 50 State Challenge.
Responsibilities:- Develop engaging social media content, including weekly posts, stories, and reels, to promote the 50 State Challenge.
- Create content that resonates with teens and college students, inspiring them to get involved.
- Reach out to past participants to collect videos and testimonials for social media use.
- Design impactful visuals and messaging to share pediatric cancer statistics in an engaging way.
- Analyze our social media presence and recommend ways to enhance impact and engagement.
- A student or recent graduate passionate about social media, marketing, and nonprofit work.
- Strong writing and content creation skills, particularly for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
- Creative eye for storytelling and digital engagement.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Basic graphic design or video editing skills (preferred but not required).
