The MTSS Coordinator/Intervention Specialist assists the administrative team in implementing and monitoring the school-wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) program.
Provides leadership and support for the staff and collaborates with administrators and instructional staff in assuring that effective and challenging curriculum and instructional practices are occurring in all classrooms;
guides the staff in the process of using relevant data to arrive at informed choices in making and adjusting instructional decisions and practices; and assists the administrative team in overseeing the instructional program by assisting teachers in their classrooms through demonstrations, modeling, peer observations and active discussions of student data and student work.
Meets with teachers individually and in small groups, grade levels, and professional learning communities to support instructional and intervention programs.
The MTSS Coordinator/Intervention Specialist will design and lead Tier 3 targeted academic and behavior interventions.
Job description:
Develops and implements Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) plan that includes academic, behavioral and social-emotional supports across KUA programs.
Ensures Intervention Programs are culturally responsive and implemented equitably and with fidelity.
Provides leadership through data analysis, coaching, innovation, collaboration, conflict resolution and intervention to meet student outcome goals.
Frequently monitors the quality and effectiveness of intervention plans and provides feedback as needed.
Promotes collaborative team processes.
Strong understanding of effective instruction for English Language Learners & ability to support teachers/staff with implementing language strategies during core instruction.
Expertise with Explicit Instruction and effective core instruction strategies.
Familiarity & expertise with a variety of assessment tools for phonemic awareness, fluency, reading comprehension and mathematical reasoning for K-5th grades.
Coordinates the collection of accurate and applicable data relating to student learning and the effectiveness of intervention strategies & MTSS.
Works with school teams and administrators to establish, review and enhance data collection, analysis, evaluation, and reporting processes.
Assists teams in establishing decision-making processes for determining when students need interventions (strategic and targeted).
Researches, identifies, and trains staff in universal screening and progress monitoring instruments to identify students in need of additional assessment and/or support and to analyze their progress.
Supports the development of a strategic set of intervention systems/supports and ensures timely access to interventions based on student need.
Collaborates with site staff to integrate researchbased interventions for academically and/or behaviorally atrisk students unresponsive to Tier 1 classroom instruction.
Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students including English learners, students with disabilities and students with diverse learning needs.
Designs, implements, executes, and continuously improves ongoing staff development and collaboration opportunities for all instructional staff with the support of the administrative team.
Ability to work closely with the administrative team to support teachers with the implementation of MTSS
Assists teachers in building interactive classroom environments focused on content and instructional strategies that are supportive of student engagement and promote student success.
Designs and facilitates Tier 3 targeted academic and behavior interventions.
