Job Description:
As the Lead Body Shop Painter at Kiefer Kia, you will be responsible for overseeing and performing high-quality paint jobs on vehicles in our body shop. You will manage the painting process from start to finish, ensuring that all work meets or exceeds customer expectations and manufacturer standards. As a leader, you will also guide and mentor other painters, ensuring a collaborative, efficient, and safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the body shop painting team, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Prepare surfaces of vehicles for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming.
- Mix and match paint colors to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform painting tasks using various techniques and tools, ensuring a smooth and flawless finish.
- Inspect vehicles to ensure that the paint job is of the highest quality and free from imperfections.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Mentor and train junior painters, providing guidance and improving their skills.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed, including proper ventilation, protective gear, and disposal of materials.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an auto body painter.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive paint products, tools, and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality results.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and train team members.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders and work instructions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
