What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Intern position at KIHOMAC?
- Incorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work and willingness to learn new skills
- Communicate effectively and use logical judgments when dealing with changes and meeting program deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must have a basic understanding of work to be performed
- Interns will work 15 - 25 hours per week; summer interns will about 40 hours
- Must be willing to accept direction from, and interact professionally with supervisor and co-workers
- Must work with integrity and follow assigned tasks through to completion
- Assist with department administrative duties as necessary to learn about the work being performed, and to contribute to completion of department workload
- Familiarization with engineering specific software such as CAD desired for some positions
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Training (both required and desired):
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Current enrollment or recent graduate of an engineering program; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science major preferred
- 0 years of professional experience in the required task area
- Must be a US citizen
- Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
- Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms
- Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
- Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
