This role is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP, supporting financial reporting, and assisting with audits. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy and contributing to process improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze financial data and variances to provide actionable insights.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and process improvements.
- Prepare sales tax filings, property tax filings, and other regulatory reports as needed.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of financial records and internal controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial reporting and operational efficiency.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the food manufacturing, CPG, or distribution industries.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and general ledger functions. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving ability with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
