Assistant Professor - Mathematics

This position will start in September of 2025. All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Kilgore College is unable to provide sponsorships for work visas at this time.

Position summary:

Kilgore College is a two-year, comprehensive public community college with a campus in Kilgore, Texas and an extension center in Longview, Texas. With approximately 6,000 students, Kilgore College is a student-centered institution characterized by excellence in teaching and learning.

Position responsibilities:

This is a nine-month faculty position reporting to the department chair of mathematics. Expectations for this position may include the following: teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach dual credit classes in high schools; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or blended classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom. An additional opportunity of teaching during the summer semesters is available, as well. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: participation in academic advising, registration, and regular office hours. It is expected that all instructors participate in committee work, professional development activities, and student recruitment/retention activities. All full-time faculty are required to complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year.

Minimum Position Requirements:

• A master’s degree or higher in mathematics with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in mathematics is required.
• A minimum of one (1) year experience as a college instructor and a commitment to excellence in teaching are required.
• Preference will be given to applicants with three or more years of college teaching and experience teaching web courses.

• Compensation for this 9-month position is based on years of teaching at institutions of higher education, and highest level of education. Base pay for no experience ranges from $44,075 for a master’s degree to $51,127 for a doctorate. Overload and summer classes are paid separately

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check.
