What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time - Payroll Assistant position at Kilgore College?
Position summary:
This position is responsible for assisting with payroll related matters including but not limited to: input, preparation, calculation and distribution of two payrolls per month and payroll related reporting.
Position responsibilities:
- Schedule: Mon-Thurs 9AM-2PM
- Answer emails and phone calls with customer service
- File employee documents
- Create and maintain physical employee files
- Accurate data entry of payroll information for Kilgore College including updates to employee files, as needed, and entering hourly payroll data for each payroll
- Entry and checking of new hire data
- Entry and maintenance of W-4 and direct deposit forms
- Creation and maintenance of employee files
- Copying, sorting, filing and mailing of various payroll related forms
- Answering employee emails/phone calls regarding payroll related information
- Assist with reporting to Teacher Retirement System and Employees Retirement System of Texas
- Learn how to produce a payroll from start to finish to serve as back-up to Payroll Manager
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Position Requirements:
- Must have at least a High School Diploma or equivalent, some college coursework in business preferred (an equivalency of relevant experience is acceptable)
- Ability to think logically, make decisions and solve problems.
- Strong organizational, analytical skills and attention to detail
- Extensive data entry skills, spreadsheet, and word processing proficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a typical office environment.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
- The rate of pay is up to $20 per hour for up to 19 hours per week.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
