CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
POSITIONS ANTICIPATED – OPERATIONS UNIT (PATROL)

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS - Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
1. Licensed Texas Peace Officer.
2. Out of state licensed peace officer with two years of experience (eligible to take the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement TCOLE licensing exam).
JOB DESCRIPTION – Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City and State and other pertinent laws; patrol an assigned area during a specific period, in motorized police equipment; may use radar; check doors and windows; investigate suspicious conditions and other complaints; make internal investigation reports of criminal offenses; make arrest for violations of laws and ordinances; investigate and report automobile accidents; testify in court; maintain order and public peace in crowds and gatherings; escort parades and funerals; watch for stolen cars and wanted and missing persons; enforce juvenile laws; perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS – (1) High School Diploma or GED (2) Meet applicant qualifications listed above (3) Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License (4) Must pass an extensive background check and drug/alcohol screen (5) Must pass a polygraph examination (6) Acceptable medical evaluation (7) Pass psychological evaluation (8) Pass Oral Interview Board (9) Pass Administrative Staff Review.
SALARY - $61,812 - $66,254 DOE / Lateral Entry (Based on working an 84 hour pay period)
OTHER BENEFITS – Texas Municipal Retirement System (2-1 match 7% of pay); employee health insurance and certification level incentive pay and participation in deferred compensation. Certain applicants may qualify for relocation assistance.

- Education pay ($50/monthly per degree level; Associate, Bachelor, Master)
- Assignment and Incentive Pay Structure:
o K-9 Assignment - $200/month
o CID Assignment - $400/month
o Investigator Assignment (DEA or Gang Unit) - $200/month
o Drone Operator - $100/month
o CIT - $50/month
o Crash - $50/month
o Intox Op - $50/month
o FTO - $50/month
o TCOLE Instructor - $50/month
o SWAT - $100/month
o OIC - $200/month
o Bilingual - $50/month
