Title: Director of Student Life Supervisor: Head of School The Director of Student Life is a full-time, year-round, exempt position reporting to the Head of School. This position serves as a member of the School’s Administrative Leadership Team and has overall responsibility for student programs, residential life, the advisory program, the discipline system, clubs and activities, and internal community events. Adheres to the responsibilities and expectations as well as policies and procedures as outlined in KMS Community Handbook. Technically savvy and able to own and operate tech systems such as Salesforce, Orah and G-Suite. Training will be provided. Specific Job Functions: Serve as a curator of student culture at KMS. Develop systems and ways to strengthen programming to enhance the student experience. Foster a strong sense of community and spirit and promote the School’s core values. Responsibility for all Student Life programming at KMS inlcuding the residential program: Work with the Wellness Team and lead all situations related to student support, student discipline, and to deliver on mission-level programs and functions. Consult on student advisor assignments Develop and coordinate student activities and trips with faculty leaders. Serve as Faculty Advisor for Student Council Plan and execute regularly occurring community service events Responsible for the Planning and execution of annual internal community events under the student life umbrella. Support Director of Advancment as it relates to student involvement in external community events. Full-Term, Winter-Term, and Boost Orientations/celebrations Athletic and Academic awards ceremony Graduation weekend Support the Advisory Coordinator in leading the advisory program, oversee advisory assignments and plan advisory curriculum and activities. Plan and facilitate weekly all-school meetings Lead Residential Life Staff and Direct Residential Program: -Design and Implement residential programming/activities -Lead student support/disciplinary action planning and implementation -Work with school nurse to understand and train dorm staff on handling any individual student medical needs such as medication distribution and allergies. -Create and Maintaining all Student Life staffing schedules including, Faculty on Duty, Dorm Supervisors, Overnight Supervisor, Admin on Duty. Work with the Assistant Head of School to resolve any issues or conflicts. Personally fill-in gaps as needed, also fulfill regularly assigned shifts. Own staff and student training and enforce use of student management systems Orah and Magnus: Work with school nurse in supporting Magnus needs for Students year-round. Communicate student allergy and food preferences with Kitchen staff. During the summer, work with School Nurse and Summer Experience Coordinator to ensure that all residential and student life needs are met for all on campus summer program participants. Participate in and lead dorm coverage needs during summer programs. Building Preparation and Planning: Work with Admissions team to ensure appropriate capacity in the dorm. Work with Wellness Team to assign students to dorm rooms for all programs during the school year. Work with Summer Experience Coordinator in the summer to fulfill this need. Work with Buildings and Grounds staff to ensure dorms rooms and student commons spaces are prepared for all programs and remain in working order. Regularly communicate with families about student life programming, individual student support and all things pertaining to this area of KMS. Teach one course, and/or support academic program as on-call substitute, and productivity hub proctoring. Other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred 1-2years prior experience in a similar student life role; or similarly applicable role. Demonstrated experience working with parents, families and students in support of the overall student experience in a school environment. Proven leadership abilities. Successful track record working with students and student life programming. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Google G-Suite required; Salesforce and Orah and Magnus a plus Willingness to work some weekends, holidays and fill-in for residential staff as needed. Alignment with KMS Mission Must have a valid driver’s license; obtain a VT Type II Bus Endorsement Submit to fingerprinting & background check Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. Benefits include a retirement plan after one year of employment, cost sharing for health insurance, HSA, discounted season pass to Killington/Pico, generous vacation and holiday PTO. Use of the facility and dining hall for all meals. Tuition remission for qualifying dependent children may be available upon completing one year of employment. Campus provided housing could be a component of the benefit package depending upon availability.
