Job Summary:

The Lift Operations Manager will report to the Mountain Experience Manager. The Lift Operations Manager is responsible for planning and general oversight of operations of the Lift Operations Department which includes Ticket Checking, Tubing, and Summer Operations. At times, the Lift Operations Manager will work very closely with other department Managers within Mountain Operations to ensure a safe and reliable operation.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, implement, administer, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate all services and operating systems of Lift Operations
  • Oversee daily operations of Lift Operations, Ticket Checking, Summer Operations, and Tubing
  • Provide supervision and leadership to Lift Operations Supervisors and Team Leaders who oversee supervision of 80 - 130 employees (season dependent)
  • Ensure compliance with VOSHA, ANSI B.77, Vermont Passenger Tramway, and all KPSRP standards, rules, and regulations
  • Identify and address issues in a timely manner as they pertain to ANSI B.77, VOSHA, Vermont Passenger Tramway, and KPSRP standards, rules, and regulations
  • Be familiar with IBC (International Building Codes) and ACCT (Association of Challenge Course Technology) standards, rules, and regulations
  • Be familiar with and maintain working relationships with all departments within Mountain Operations such as Lift Maintenance, Snowmaking, Patrol, Grooming, and Vehicle Maintenance
  • Responsible for the growth and development of staff in terms of efficiency, safety, and succession
  • Confer regularly with the Mountain Experience Manager to ensure department and company goals are being met and to seek advice if needed
  • Confer regularly with Lift Maintenance Manager to discuss lift issues and resolutions
  • Responsible for understanding and implementing changes to policies and training when needed
  • Responsible for reviewing all department literature
  • Responsible for staying informed of new developments in Lift Operations or related fields that may be applicable to the operation
  • Confer regularly with the Financial Coordinator about budgetary anomalies, wages, and general expenditures
  • Plan and manage Lift Operations, Ticket Checking, and Tubing budgets. As well as potential Capital necessities when available
  • Maintain inventory and supplies control including but not limited to uniforms, tools, and operating supplies
  • Participate in various department/division and company meetings
  • Prepare and submit administrative reports such as Weekly Overviews, Financials, Staffing/OT, etc.
  • Deal regularly with various individuals and organizations outside of the company, including vendors, inspectors, guests, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Customer Service Expectation:

The Lift Operations Manager plays a significant role at KPSRP acting as a liaison between guests and the company ensuring that we are providing a safe, efficient, and reliable operation while creating positive and memorable experiences. The Lift Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that all Lift Operations staff have constant positive customer interactions regardless of whether it is at the lift or in the maze or even on the trails. It is expected that all staff in Lift Operations are courteous and professional to provide superior customer service and are attentive to the guests needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid Drivers License Required
  • High School diploma is required, Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant ski area operations experience preferred or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge or skills are acquired
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent administrative and supervisory skills are required, as well as, the ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals inside and outside of the company
  • Superior attitude, self-motivating, and ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to handle emergency situations effectively
  • Superior guest service experience
  • Excellent language skills and reasoning ability
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 75lbs repeatedly throughout the day
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time throughout the day
  • Must be able to work outside, in all weather conditions
  • Intermediate Ski/Ride ability required, Advanced Ski/Ride ability preferred
