Shift Leader

Job Overview:

Kilwin's is seeking an energetic, customer-focused Shift Leader to oversee daily store operations, manage staff, and deliver an exceptional experience to our customers. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for supervising team members, ensuring smooth operations during your shift, and maintaining the high standards of quality and service that Kilwin's is known for. You will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the store is well-stocked, operationally efficient, and compliant with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Supervise and support team members during your shift, ensuring they are motivated, trained, and following company policies and procedures.
• Customer Service: Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring staff is delivering friendly, efficient, and professional service. Resolve customer issues or complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
• Operational Oversight: Oversee store operations during your shift, ensuring that production, sales, and service run smoothly. Maintain quality control in all areas, from candy making to packaging and sales.
• Training and Development: Train new employees and assist in the development of team members. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance performance.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of ingredients, supplies, and finished products. Ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and fully stocked.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all health, safety, and sanitation standards are met in accordance with company guidelines and local regulations. Perform regular safety checks and report any concerns.
• Cash Management: Handle cash register operations, including opening and closing registers, processing transactions, and balancing cash drawers.
• Sales and Performance Goals: Help drive sales by promoting Kilwin’s products and encouraging upselling. Support the Store Manager in achieving store performance goals.
• Shift Reporting: Complete shift reports, including sales numbers, inventory counts, and any issues or concerns that arose during your shift. Communicate any necessary updates to the Store Manager.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or degree preferred.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a retail or food service environment.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a required.
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism and courtesy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills and experience with cash handling and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards, particularly in food production and service, is a plus.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform light cleaning duties.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Comfort with working in a kitchen or food preparation environment.
