Position Overview: Kimball Camp is seeking a dynamic, organized, and enthusiastic Day Camp Director to lead our Day Camp program. The Day Camp Director will oversee all aspects of our Adventure Cubs (ages 4-5) and Outdoor Explorers (ages 6-14) programs, ensuring a fun, safe, and enriching experience for every camper. This role involves creating, participating in, and supervising daily activities, facilitating staff, and fostering a positive environment where campers can explore, learn, and build lasting friendships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Campers: Oversee and engage with campers from arrival until departure, ensuring they are safe, supported, and having fun.
- Plan and Lead Activities: Organize and lead a variety of camp activities such as arts and crafts, games, nature exploration, and educational sessions that cater to different age groups.
- Ensure Safety and Well-Being: Maintain a safe environment by monitoring the health and safety of campers at all times. Respond to any emergencies by directing first aid needs to the Health Officer and/or Camp Directors.
- Foster a Positive Environment: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere where all campers feel welcome and valued.
- Assist with Operations: Help set up and clean up camp activities and facilities, ensuring everything is ready for the next day.
- Communication with Parents/Guardians: Provide updates to parents and guardians regarding camper progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Staff Support: Attend staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled by the Camp Directors. Support and guide camp counselors in the execution of activities.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Take on additional responsibilities as directed by the Camp Directors to ensure the smooth operation of the camp.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience in camp counseling, childcare, or teaching is required
- College degree in related field preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable with a genuine interest in working with children
- Ability to handle outdoor activities and physical challenges associated with camp life.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus (training will be provided)
