Position Overview: Kimball Camp is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to guide and support campers in a fun, safe, and engaging environment. As a Camp Counselor, you’ll be a key figure in facilitating a variety of activities that promote teamwork, self-confidence, and outdoor exploration. You will play a vital role in ensuring that campers of all ages have an unforgettable summer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and Guide Campers: Lead and assist campers in daily activities such as arts and crafts, sports, nature exploration, team building, and high adventure activities.
- Lead Camp Programs: Plan, coordinate, and participate in various camp programs, ensuring they are safe, enjoyable, and enriching for all participants.
- Serve as a Role Model: Demonstrate respectful, responsible, and positive behavior to encourage a nurturing and supportive camp environment.
- Monitor Well-Being: Keep a close eye on campers' emotional and physical well-being, addressing any behavioral or health-related issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with Camp Staff: Work with fellow counselors and camp staff to plan and execute daily activities, events, and special camp programs.
- Ensure Safety and Organization: Enforce camp rules and policies, ensuring a safe, organized, and enjoyable experience for all campers.
- Assist in Daily Camp Operations: Help with camp operations, including meal supervision, cabin management, and activity preparation.
- Engage in Staff Meetings and Training: Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions to ensure you’re fully prepared to lead camp activities.
- Provide Support and Encouragement: Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere by providing emotional and practical support to all campers.
- Additional Duties: Take on any additional tasks assigned by the Camp Directors to support camp activities and operations.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience in camp counseling, childcare, or teaching is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable with a genuine interest in working with children
- Ability to handle outdoor activities and physical challenges associated with camp life.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus (training will be provided), in addition to training/certification in lifeguarding and high ropes.
