What are the responsibilities and job description for the Road Grader Operator position at Kimball County?
Purpose of Position
Perform activities regarding the construction and maintenance of the County’s roads and highways, involving defined procedures under the direction of the Highway Superintendent and/or the assigned shop foreman, adhering to departmental policies and procedures, conforming to the guidelines set by the Nebraska Department of Roads and in accordance with State and Federal statutes and laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Develop and maintain professional customer service/working relationships using good interpersonal communications with governmental agencies, other agencies and the public that promote the program and the County.
· Maintain clear consistent communication with the Foreman and Highway Superintendent; provide routine reports and action items.
· Maintain the County’s roads and road safety such as snow removal, clean up and repairs from accidents and closures keeping records as required.
· Maintain and operate several types of equipment such as road grader, back-hoe, loader and dozer in a safe and proper manner keeping daily records as required.
· Help keep shop and yard in a clean, orderly and safe condition following all established procedures and protocols.
· Attend meetings and training at multiple locations, requiring travel at various times.
· Perform other duties as assigned or required by the Highway Superintendent.

Essential Education and/or Experience

· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Experience in a road department or similar equipment preferred.

Work is generally performed in an environment subject to weather, fumes, hazardous chemicals and contact with the public. Considerable driving, walking and standing needs use of visual capacity including depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision, as well as use of fingers, hands and arms with frequent sitting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting of 25-75 pounds.
Attendance and Availability
As determined by the Highway Superintendent.
This position is at-will with an anticipated work load of 40 hours a week. This position requires availability for all bad weather, urgent and emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which may require working overtime, weekends and/or holidays.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50 - $20.00 per hour
